The head of the Supreme Audit Office, Marian Banaś, announced on Wednesday that CBA agents appeared in the accounting office of his son, Jakub Banas, on that day. He recalled that the day before the parliamentary regulatory committee tried to deal with the lifting of the immunity of the president of the Supreme Chamber of Control.
Parliamentary regulatory committee took care of the application on Tuesday for the consent of the Sejm to prosecute Marian Banas, the president of the Supreme Audit Office. After about two hours, however, the meeting was interrupted by the chairman of the committee. As he said, it will be continued after obtaining the case files from the prosecutor’s office. Alone Marian Banaś left the committee meeting before because he said the motion to waive his immunity had “formal errors”.

On Wednesday, the head of the Supreme Chamber of Control (NIK) published a post on Twitter in which he commented on Tuesday’s session of the parliamentary committee on his matter. He also informed that agents of the Central Anticorruption Bureau (Central Anticorruption Bureau) appeared on Wednesday at the accounting office of his son’s company, Jakub Banas.
“Yesterday the Regulations Committee tried to deal with the lifting of the immunity of Marian Banas. My attorneys effectively pointed to the lack of evidence. Today, the CBA with a working visit to the accounting office of my son’s company” – wrote Banaś. “Central Antibanasia Bureau in action” – he added.
Charges against Marian Banas and his son
At the end of July, the son of Marian Banas was detained at the Krakow Balice airport when he and his wife were returning from vacation, and the detention was carried out by CBA officers. The CBA itself informed about the detention of the director of the Tax Chamber in Kraków, Tadeusz G., and the social advisor to the President of the Supreme Audit Office, Jakub Banas. The Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Białystok accused Jakub Banas and his wife Agnieszka, as well as Tadeusz G. Also at the end of July, the National Prosecutor’s Office announced that the Prosecutor General had asked the Marshal of the Sejm to waive the immunity of the President of the Supreme Chamber of Control. Among the dozen or so charges that the prosecutor’s office intends to bring against Banas, there is falsehood in asset declarations and tax declarations. According to prosecutors, Banaś was to lower the revenues from the lease of a tenement house in Krakow in the tax returns for 2015-2020. According to the prosecutor’s office, it exposed the Treasury to the loss of over 50,000. PLN from the income tax due.
