Zbigniew Rokita: I have not cooled down yet, I am taming it somehow
Rokita was a guest on TVN24 on Monday morning. – I have not cooled down yet, I have great emotions, I somehow tame it, digest it. Above all, there is great joy – he said.
As he said, he deals mainly with ethnic and national minorities, but “he is also close to situations where other minority groups are discriminated against and their voice is not heard”. – This applies to religious and sexual minorities, as well as economically excluded groups. This is what we are dealing with in Poland and you need to pay attention to it – he emphasized ..
He was also asked how his book, for which he received the Nike Award, was written. – I’m a walker. I go to bed, look at yards, read some strange things, talk to people. I collect it in mosaics and it’s even hard for me to say when the first sentence of a book is being written. It may be chaotic, he said.
– This book is specific in that it was built for a year and a half or two, but it has always been with me. It is also a record of my or my family’s biographical experiences – he added.
Zbigniew Rokita – who he is
Zbigniew Rokita was born in 1989 in Gliwice. He is a journalist and reporter. He published his texts – mainly on the issues of Central Europe and Upper Silesia – in “Polityka”, “Tygodnik Powszechny”, “Znak” and “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna”. Apart from “Kajś”, he has also written three other books, including “Królowie Strzelców. A ball in the shadow of the empire”, which was staged at the Nowy Theater in Zabrze.
“Kajś. A Tale of Upper Silesia” (published by Czarne) is about identity and belonging. About trying to understand different reasons. This book is like a puzzle in which a coherent picture emerges from seemingly mismatched elements. “Kajś” is a multi-threaded reportage about Silesia and Silesia.
