An important element is primarily the development of infrastructure and public transport. We spent PLN 1.3 billion on public transport alone, said Piotr Grzymowicz, Mayor of Olsztyn, on TVN24 BIS, noting that in the years 2000-2023 the city obtained PLN 2.3 billion from EU funds.
The conversation took place as part of the series “What about KPO?”, in which every day at 5 pm on TVN24 BIS we talk to local government officials and ask them how much they need to unblock KPO.
Piotr Grzymowicz, the mayor of Olsztyn, explained that EU funds are “a flywheel for the entire region”. – After 50 years, trams appeared again on the streets of Olsztyn – he gave an example.
He explained that KPO funds are an important element of development. – First of all, if we are talking about the entire segment of the social fund aimed at increasing human capital, at increasing the level of education of our youngest – he added.
National Reconstruction Plan
The National Recovery Plan was approved by the European Commission on June 1, 2022. Two weeks later by the Council of Europe. However, so far no money has been sent to Poland due to reservations about the implementation of the so-called milestones concerning, among others, the rule of law.
The KPO funds total over EUR 35 billion in the form of grants and preferential loans from the EU fund for economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic.
