Although the non-alcoholic beer Ale Gym Beer is available in pharmacies DOZ from spring 2024, it has only just become loud on the web. The topic was raised by Anna Makowska, known as “Doctor Ania”. In her Facebook post, she emphasizes, among other things, that “as a pharmacist by education” she has always assumed that “a pharmacy is not a bazaar”.

“What went wrong in this country that I enter a pharmacy and at the checkout I have a rack of beer in front of my nose?” wonders “Doctor Ania”. And she adds: “I don't trust places where instead of caring about my health someone only wants to make money off me, because a pharmacy is a specific place. I'm not saying that there shouldn't be any profit. However, it shouldn't be the primary and only goal of the facility's existence. Especially at the expense of the patients' health”.

“So when I see places recommending idiotic candies, syrups and lollipops to childrenwhere they recommend products with more disadvantages than advantages, where from the entrance I am offered tons of supplements and beer – I wonder where the hell am I?” – he adds and appeals to stop turning the pharmacy into a “bazaar with candy and beer”.

DOZ Explains Non-Alcoholic Beer in Pharmacies: A Way to Find New Sources of Revenue

DOZ responds, among other things, that pharmacists working in this chain always put the patient in the “center of attention”. “In DOZ Pharmacies, new generations of people are looking for support, who look for more than just the function of the products they buy, but also pay attention to the form of the product or its taste. One of such growing groups are people who practice various sports disciplines on a daily basis. Promoting a healthy lifestyle, including physical activity by providing this group of Patients with high-quality products is therefore the quintessence of the mission implemented by DOZ Pharmacies” – claims DOZ quoted by the portal nowymarketing.pl.

He emphasizes that the non-alcoholic beer Ale Gym Beer “is one of those products that, thanks to the raw materials used in its production process and the unique, non-alcoholic formula, provides the body with valuable nutrients.” DOZ also adds that “the development new product categories, the axis of which is always the Patient's well-being, so for the pharmacy today it is a way to look for new sources of revenue that will allow it to function in an environment of dynamically growing costs activities, including personnel costs.”

DOZ: Medicines at petrol stations and discount stores, but water cannot be sold in pharmacies

On this occasion, DOZ reminds that in recent years we have been observing a deepening phenomenon of migration of products from pharmacies to other retail channels. At petrol stations or discount stores you can buy medicinal products, but according to the regulations, a pharmacy cannot sell water.

Portalspozywczy.pl states that the non-alcoholic beer Ale Gym Beer is a variant of the non-alcoholic beer Iguana produced by the company Drink ID from Piotrków Trybunalski. “Ale Gym Beer By Iguana is a functional non-alcoholic lager beer with added fiber, amino acids from brewer's yeast, BCAA, guarana seed extract and white mulberry fruit infusion. The hops used in production come from certified organic crops. One package contains 43 mg of caffeine,” the manufacturer informs in the description.

Let us recall that according to the position of the State Agency for Solving Alcohol Problems (PARPA) Soft drinks should not be sold to minors. According to PARPA, this is harmful because it introduces the habit of reaching for this type of alcohol in the future.
