Back to North Korea. Two Western countries have decided
At that time, our facility was evacuated due to the decision of the Korean authorities to completely close the borders due to COVID-19 epidemic. The decision prevented the normal functioning of the Polish embassy and, consequently, its activities have been suspended.
Apart from Poland, the only Western country that has a presence in North Korea is Sweden. Stockholm has decided to resume operations of its diplomatic mission in Pyongyang in September 2024.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes that Poland has officially maintained diplomatic relations with North Korea since 1948 and is involved in stabilizing the security situation on the Korean Peninsula through membership in Supervisory Commission of Neutral States. The authority is responsible for control ceasefire between North Korea and South Cortex.
