Northern Ireland police say four homemade explosives have been found in a cemetery in Londonderry. The discovery came just hours before US President Joe Biden arrived in Northern Ireland.

After finding the pipe bombs, officers sealed off a cemetery in Creggan, and the charges were secured and taken for further forensic examination. An illegal republican parade organized to commemorate the outbreak of the anti-British uprising in Ireland in 1916. During this parade, a police Land Rover was pelted with petrol bottles and other objects.

“The actions of those responsible are reprehensible and show utter disregard and utter contempt for the community. These dubious pipe bombs have been left in a cemetery where people bury their loved ones and come to pay their respects. It is absolutely disgraceful.” said PSNI Second Deputy Commissioner Bobby Singleton.

The Northern Ireland Police Service (PSNI) posted a post on social media about the case.
