A 60-metre construction crane collapsed on a shopping center in Norwegian Melhus. A woman, a store worker, died. Two other people suffered minor injuries, local police said. The cause of the accident is not yet known.

The incident took place on Friday morning in Melhus near Trondheim in western Norway. One person was killed, according to local police. It was a woman working in the store’s shop. Two other people were slightly injured.

The body of a woman was found in a place of heavy damage

Local police officer Ebbe Kimo said the fatality was a 50-year-old woman from Trondheim who was reported missing after the evacuation of the staff. The woman’s body was found inside the building, where the construction of a construction crane caused extensive damage.

“We have no information on other missing persons,” Kimo said.

The fire brigade, dogs and drones participated in the search for the woman.

The cause of the accident is unknown

According to the police, the cause of the incident is still unknown. On Friday, no work was carried out at the construction site of the housing estate adjacent to the shopping center. The second crane standing there was not damaged.

Strong winds may have contributed to the collapse of the first. The Norwegian Labor Inspectorate has launched an investigation into the incident.
