Famous Iranian movie director and his spouse discovered stabbed to loss of life of their residence, state media report

TEHRAN, Iran — Famous Iranian movie director Dariush Mehrjui and his spouse have been stabbed to loss of life of their residence by an unknown assailant, state media reported Sunday.

The official IRNA information company quoted Hossein Fazeli, a judiciary official, as saying that Mehrjhi and his spouse, Vahideh Mohammadifar, have been found {dead} with knife wounds of their necks.

Fazeli mentioned the director’s daughter, Mona Mehrjui, discovered the our bodies when she went to go to her father Saturday evening on the residence in a suburb about 30 kilometers (19 miles) west of the capital, Tehran.

The report mentioned authorities have been investigating and gave no hypothesis on a motive, although the spouse had complained a few knife menace on social media in current weeks.

Mehrjui , 83, was often known as cofounder of Iran’s movie new wave within the early Nineteen Seventies that primarily targeted on realism. He acquired many awards, together with a Silver Hugo from the Chicago Worldwide Movie Competition in 1998 and a Golden Seashell on the San Sebastián Worldwide Movie Competition 1993.

Mehrjui studied within the cinema program on the College of California, Los Angeles within the early Sixties.
