In summer, children get lost on the beach every day, inform policemen from Nowy Dwór Gdański (Pomorskie). It is for this reason that they distribute “niezgubki” bands that are to help in searching for a child. A film was also made to draw attention to the problem of “mass disappearances in the summer season”.
Last Saturday, to find a nine-year-old girl in Międzyzdroje (West Pomeranian Voivodeship), sunbathers and lifeguards created three “chains of life”. The caregivers last saw the baby in the water. Fortunately, after 40 minutes they found the girl. She was on land, safe and sound.
A few days earlier, a similar situation had happened in Sopot. A four-year-old child went missing there. Back then, sunbathers also helped the rescuers in their search. They grabbed their hands and began to comb the seabed. After 10 minutes the girl found herself on the beach 200 meters away. – There was applause all over the bathing beach, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief – the lifeguards said then.
It happens, however, that children will go much further. At the beginning of July this year, a four-year-old girl who was with her parents on the beach in Mielno (West Pomeranian Voivodeship), only a kilometer away. In turn, in 2019, a six-year-old girl from the beach in Świnoujście wandered as far as Germany. So she had to walk eight kilometers.
Parents reported the girl missing on the beach in Mielno. It turned out that the four-year-old walked a kilometer on her own KMP in Koszalin
The Poviat Police Headquarters in Nowy Dwór Gdański (Pomorskie) informs that in the summer season children get lost on the beaches every day. It is for this reason that, with the help of firefighters and border guards, officers organized an action that could prevent mass disappearances.
“Don’t let me get lost”
From Mikoszewo to Krynica Morska, at the entrances to the beach and in the vicinity, policemen distribute “niezgubki” bands to families with children.
“The wristband has an emergency number and a place to put the child’s name and surname, as well as the guardian’s phone number, which facilitates the search. Thanks to the armband, the child is faster with his parents and experiences a traumatic separation for a shorter time” – the officers describe.
As they explain, the “non-lost” should be put on the child not only on the beach, but also in other crowded places, such as a shopping center.
“Chain of Life” on the beach in SopotWhen the rescuers received the news about the disappearance of a four-year-old girl on the beach in Sopot, they immediately began to create a “chain of life”. Beach-goers helped them. After 10 minutes, they found the baby. There was applause all over the bathing beach, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief, the lifeguards describe. facebook.com/Sopockie WOPR
Policemen from Nowy Dwór remind, however, that such an armband does not exempt from the obligation to be particularly careful when caring for a child.
“A beach full of tourists and screens creates a labyrinth for a young child, in which he does not know how to return to his beloved parents. Being in the crowd of sunbathers and set up screens, a moment of inattention is enough and the child will be lost from sight. On the beach everything looks the same for children. , they think that they are going in the right direction, but unconsciously they always move away from the place where they were with their parents, being able to walk even several kilometers in this way “- the officers write.
As part of the campaign, the film “Don’t let me get lost” was made, which the officers published on social media.
