Head of the National Security Bureau: the issue of Poland's participation in the Nucelar Sharing program has been raised many times

The head of the National Security Bureau, Jacek Siewiera, referred to this issue in Poznań in a conversation with journalists.

As he said, the issue of Poland's participation in the Nucelar Sharing program “has been raised many times over the last few years, both by the head of state and government representatives.”

– The state's position on this matter is known both in the area of classified information and in the area of public communication. To my knowledge it has not changed. The change of this position was in no way the subject of the government's resolution or the presented positions of individual ministers after the new government took power, he added.

The head of the National Security Bureau drew attention to the restraint in informing “both on the part of the president, who in response to the journalist's question took a similar stance as in previous years regarding the readiness to adopt the Nuclear Sharing infrastructure in Poland, as well as the prime minister, who also suggested in restrained words the need for consultations to learn the exact intention of the actions of the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. Siewiera said that on this topic, restraint in speech “should be characteristic of politicians from both sides of the political scene.”

Siewiera about additional advantages in terms of safety guarantee

– The background to the preparation of strategic cooperation in the area of security, and Nuclear Sharing is the program of the greatest international importance, requires a certain formula of cooperation with our most important allies across the Atlantic, including European allies within the North Atlantic Alliance – said the head of the National Security Bureau.

As he said, “without a doubt, the presence of American nuclear weapons with their deployment on the territory of the Republic of Poland would provide additional advantages in terms of security guarantees and would increase security in the international arena.”

He added that “in the face of questioning or termination of the provisions of the NATO-Russia founding act, in the face of the unanimous declarations made by both President Lukashenko and the Kremlin leaders about the deployment of nuclear weapons in Belarus, the North Atlantic Alliance is in a situation in which it is necessary to take appropriate responses and “A discussion among journalists and think tank analysts is certainly necessary.”

– The Russian Federation applies international law very selectively, especially in aspects relating to deterrence policy and the policy that has stabilized this top rung of the escalation ladder in Europe over the past decades. The security architecture on Poland's side requires adaptation in the area of conventional forces, which is being done (…) but also by the North Atlantic Alliance as part of the alliance's nuclear deterrence. And this work is currently underway – he said.
