Number of cars per 1,000 inhabitants. Poland above the EU average – Eurostat data

In the European Union (EU) in 2022, the average number of cars per 1,000 inhabitants was 560 – reported the European statistical office Eurostat. He also pointed out that in Poland the average was 572.

In the decade 2012-2022, the average number of cars in the EU increased by 14.3%. from 490 to 560 passenger cars per 1,000 inhabitants, and in Poland from 492 to 572.

The largest number of passenger cars was recorded in Italy – 684 passenger cars per 1,000 inhabitants, followed by Luxembourg (678), Finland (661) and Cyprus (658).

Meanwhile, it had the lowest rate Latvia (414 passenger cars per 1,000 inhabitants), and then Romania (417) and Hungary (424).

The data shows that in the years 2012–2022, high growth rates were recorded by EU countries in the central and eastern parts of the EU. Among the EU countries, the highest increase in the number of passenger cars per 1,000 inhabitants was recorded by Romania (+86.2%; +193), followed by Croatia (+44.8%; +152), Hungary (+40.9%; +123), Slovakia (+40.1%; +135) and Estonia (+39.7%; +181) .
