Flooding in Poland has affected many places. Water has entered the Hospital Emergency Department in Nysa. – The incident occurred in the afternoon. The situation in the entire city is very difficult – reports Senior Captain Dariusz Pryga from the Nysa Fire Department. He noted that the evacuation of some patients is underway, which began with pregnant women. The director of the facility added that other patients must also be taken to other hospitals, because the building has been without electricity for several hours. – We currently have 80 patients, the evacuation priority is being established. I don't know how long we will be able to function – said director Artur Kamiński.
Senior Captain Pryga emphasized in an interview with TVN24 after 8:30 p.m. that “a partial evacuation has already begun”. – We are evacuating six pregnant women from the gynaecology ward. At the same time, I know from the district governor that the evacuation of the entire facility is not ruled out. There was a problem with access to electricity earlier – the firefighter said.
He added that the headquarters of the Kłodzko fire brigade is located next to the hospital. Officers had to move earlier to the area of the customs and tax office, from where the rescue operation is currently being conducted. – For now, I have no knowledge that a decision has been made to evacuate the rest of the patients. If I obtain such information, I will pass it on – noted Dariusz Pryga.

A recording has appeared online showing a fast-flowing stream that has burst into the hospital building. Artur Kamiński, the hospital director, said during a conversation with Artur Molęda during a special edition on TVN24 that the facility “had already been prepared for such a turn of events.”
– The hospital's Emergency Department has already been moved higher, to the place where the ENT department operates – said the director.
He added that the emergency room in the facility is “located low.” He admitted that water had gotten in there.

– As far as possible, the patients are safe. We have about 80 of them. It started with the evacuation of pregnant women, but the priority of evacuation is being established. Patients who cannot stay in the hospital without electricity must be transported to other facilities in the Opole province – said the director.

Earlier, the director of the facility referred to the flooding of the hospital using social media. He described that the flooding of the hospital occurred at around 3:45 p.m. The water flooded the facility – as the director Artur Kamiński said – “in five minutes”.

“The wave on the hospital came from the park and was very violent (…) no one was hurt, the patients are safe and have been evacuated to higher levels,” the director said.
He added that the hospital building is flooded and “the water is not receding”. “Continuing to increase the discharge of water from Lake Nysa will completely cut off access to the Hospital for many hours, because ambulances simply will not get through and the only way will be evacuation by pontoon or boat and the landing site (logistics by helicopter),” wrote the director.

Captain Dariusz Pryga emphasized in an interview with tvn24.pl that the firefighters have not yet received information about the need to evacuate people from the hospital. – The situation is so dynamic right now that we have a lot of work on every front of the fight against the element – said the firefighter.
– Ten fire brigades are patrolling the city centre. Firefighters are helping where help is needed. Evacuation companies with boats are approaching Nysa, there is also the army with amphibious vehicles, we have the possibility of using a helicopter – the firefighter noted.

Captain Łukasz Nowak, spokesman for the Provincial Fire Service in Opole, emphasized that the flood situation in the entire commune is serious. – At least several hundred rescuers from various uniformed services from all over the country are involved in the evacuation operation in Nysa and neighboring towns. The evacuation of the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service was necessary. The situation is very dynamic and evacuations of further buildings are not ruled out. Therefore, we appeal to everyone to follow the instructions of the emergency services – said Łukasz Nowak.

The situation in Nysa is being monitored by TVN's “Fakty” reporter Wojciech Bojanowski. – The water is still rising, I have water up to my waist, there is no other way to get here than with some heavy equipment, only jet skis are able to evacuate people – he reports.

The mayor of Nysa, Kordian Kolbiarz, appealed to residents to consider self-evacuation. “Unfortunately, we are unable to determine the strength and directions of the flood that threatens us. Generally, it is safe beyond the river!” – he said in a statement.
