Fire on a railway embankment near Oborniki (Wielkopolska Province). Firefighters are battling the fire over a distance of about 15 kilometers. There are disruptions to train traffic. Firefighting operations are hampered by wind and high temperatures.
The fire was reported to the services on Wednesday (4 September) around noon. As junior brigadier Leszek Walczak of the District Police Headquarters in Oborniki said, 15 fire brigades are currently fighting the fire, both from the State Fire Service and the Volunteer Fire Department.
“Currently, the fire is spread over a distance of about 15 kilometers – from Oborniki towards Rogoźno,” he said. He added that the worst situation is now at the height of the town of Parkowo.

“The actions are ongoing, but extinguishing the fire is difficult due to strong wind and high temperature,” he noted.
There are disruptions to train services on the Poznań Główny-Piła Główna railway line.
