German Chancellor Olaf Scholz wants to maintain contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin. “I’m going to do it again soon,” Scholz said at the 38th Congress of the Evangelical Church in Nuremberg, referring to his telephone conversations with the Russian leader.

As the German agency dpa reminded, Scholz outlined the principles of his policy from the beginning of the Russian military invasion of Ukrainerepeating that “an escalation of the war must be prevented.”

– It is right that we act in a coordinated manner in all our activities. We will consider every step and we will not go alone. From the very beginning, we felt obliged to respect this principle, explained Scholz. He stressed that “borders in Europe should not be moved by force”.

Last contact with Putin

According to the information provided on the Kremlin’s website, Scholz spoke by phone with Vladimir Putin Sholz on December 2, 2022. The leaders also had contact in September, May and March last year.
