A charity rally with over 2,600 participants has started in Oława (Lower Silesian Voivodeship). Each of them drives a car that cannot be newer than 20 years (for cars from Poland and the Eastern Bloc) and 29 years (for Western cars). On the route, which runs almost across the country, you will be able to see, among others, the legendary Ford T.

The Rooster Rally has been organized since 2017, but – as its participants say – this year’s edition will be record-breaking. – The amount we collect for children is already approaching PLN 1.5 million, which is half a million more than last year. And this sum will only grow – says Tomasz Jurczak, the organizer of the rally.

The money comes from the entry fee – each participant had to pay PLN 600. In addition, the share account will be credited with money from the auction. Among other things, you will be able to bid on a restored Volkswagen Passat from 1993. Anyone who outbids others will be able to buy it – regardless of whether he participated in the rally or not. The main prize for the participants is a Wartburg from 1990, which was purchased by the organizers in Berlin. The previous owner found it in turn on the premises Hungarian.

– The car has a rich history. The vehicle was repaired, the entire paint coating was replaced with the exception of the roof. The winner will be announced on the beach in Stegna – says Mateusz Laska, a representative of the event’s partner company.

Rooster Rally. Throughout the country

Over 2,600 children, polonaises, buses and motorcycles set off from Oława on Thursday. Among the participants there are also daredevils who plan to cover the route by bike.

– It leads from Oława through Poznań to the beach in Stegna. Imagine the commitment required to take on such a challenge – comments Tomasz Jurczak.

Participants have two days to complete the route. People traveling in a historic Ford T, whose production began in 1908, are also planning to reach the Baltic Sea.

The organizers emphasize that the collected funds will be fully donated to public benefit organizations, with particular emphasis on those working for children.
