Olsztyn. A titled swimmer died in the accident. There is an indictment

The investigation in this case, the Olsztyn-Północ District Prosecutor's Office, sent an indictment to the District Court in Olsztyn.

As established in the investigation, the Toyota head Jacek D., reaching the intersection of Różnowo – Gady – Olsztyn – Barczewko was on the subordinate road. Before entering the intersection, he did not stop in front of the horizontal and vertical sign “Stop”. The motorcyclist riding the road with priority at that time hit the side of his car. She suffered numerous injuries as a result of which she died at the scene.

According to the prosecutor's office, the intersection at which the accident occurred was properly marked and the meteorological conditions are good. The Toyota driver was sober.

Jacek D. was charged with intentional violation of the safety rules in land traffic and causing a fatal accident. There is a penalty of up to eight years of imprisonment. The prosecutor's office reported that the suspect confessed to committing the alleged act.

– In complex explanations, he stated that he saw the intersection and the “stop” in too late. He undertook the braking maneuver, but he failed to stop the vehicle in front of the intersection – said Daniel Brodowski, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Olsztyn.

Justyna Burska was 29 years old. She was a multiple medalist of the Polish swimming championship, in all age categories and a freestyle record holder. She also took part in events of the rank of European and world championships, including in open waters. In 2017, during the World Cup in Budapest, she took 31st place in the 10 km race on the open water of Lake Balaton. She represented the colors of UKS Konstantynów Łódzki and AZS UWM Olsztyn.

After the end of her career, she worked in Olsztyn as a swimming instructor; She mainly taught children.
