The fire occurred on Saturday morning in a block of flats at Popiełuszki Street in Olsztyn. The duty officer of the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Olsztyn reported that the firefighting action was completed and firefighters returned to the base after 6 o'clock.
– People who were hospitalized were taken from the scene of the incident – he added.

According to preliminary findings, the fire broke out in the apartment on the second floor around 4.
“The fire was created in the kitchenette,” said the duty officer.
The fire mastered the apartment so much that the two people in it escaped to the balcony. From there, firefighters took them with a lift. The fire brigade on duty from Olsztyn announced that currently “the premises are not suitable for living”.
Inhabitants of other premises in the staircase, a total of 10 people, evacuated themselves before the arrival of firefighters.
The exact reasons for the outbreak of fire will explain the police investigation. The administrator will decide about the fate of the block in which the fire occurred.
