The emotions haven't subsided yet. I'm very proud of myself for doing it, for withstanding all this pressure – said Aleksandra Kałucka, who won the bronze medal in sport climbing against time at the Olympic Games in Paris, in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24. Her sister Natalia, who is also involved in climbing, said that when she was cheering her sister on her way to the Olympic medal, “she cried at the very start”.
Aleksandra Kałucka, bronze medalist of the Paris Olympics in sport climbing on time and her sister Natalia Kałucka, world champion in the same discipline, spoke on “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24 about emotions related to the Olympic competition. Aleksandra about fighting for a medal, Natalia about rooting for her sister.
– The emotions haven't subsided yet, I still have trouble sleeping, because the emotions I had after the start are still with me. Colloquially speaking, the Olympic Games were really great. I felt a lot of support from the Olympic mission, from other competitors, also from the volleyball players. So I remember it very well – said Aleksandra. – I'm also very proud of myself for doing it, for withstanding all the pressure related to the Games. These are very difficult competitions emotionally and mentally, but I did it and I'm coming back with a medal – she added.
“I fell in love at first sight”
Natalia Kałucka also spoke about her perspective. – These were very specific competitions, because now I was on the other side. I won't hide the fact that it was a very moving moment. I could see from the audience how my sister won an Olympic medal. It was very emotional. I cried at the very start. There were a lot of emotions, but I remember it well – she said.
The Kałucki sisters also talked about how their adventure with the climbing wall began. Aleksandra said that her brother took her to the climbing wall for the first time when she was eight years old. – When I entered the climbing wall, I fell in love at first sight. From the very beginning I was very motivated and wanted to climb – said Aleksandra.
– And these successes came easily at the beginning. After a year and a half, I was already winning medals at Polish championships and cups. I did it from the very beginning, because my sister and I loved it. I remember that the biggest punishment at my house was the ban on going to training. So I think that's what led us to where we are now – emphasized the bronze Olympic medalist.
