Oncological therapies with a shortened reimbursement. The Ministry of Health has announced a list

Over 7.5 thousand oncological patients can get easier access to therapy. The Ministry of Health has announced a second list of medicines with established effectiveness. It found substances used to treat cancer, including breasts, prostate or leukemia. Expenses for the reimbursement of these drugs estimated by the Ministry of Health are almost PLN 135 million.

The list includes 17 items in which the therapies used in oncology were included. You will be able to apply a simplified refund path to them. Five are used to treat breast cancer, and three in lung cancer and leukemia. Substances posted on the list are also used in the therapy of himbckers and liver cell crayfish, bladder cancer, as well as in the treatment of complications after oncological therapy.

The first reimbursement may appear in July

As Mateusz Oczkowski, deputy director of the Drug Policy Department at the Ministry of Health, assessed during the Thursday conference, the entities responsible will probably start submitting applications for reimbursement.

– We are conducting talks on the Horizon Scanning principle and we know that interest is huge. It may happen that already in the July reimbursement there will be technologies we are talking about today – he said.

The cardiological list was a success

Lists of medication with well -established effectiveness have been announced from last fall pursuant to art. 30a of the Reimbursement Act. The provision enables faster and less expensive for the subject responsible for the reimbursement of the drug, for which market exclusivity has passed. So far one list has been announced and concerned cardiology.

– 14 drugs were at stake. Already in the first reimbursement announcement this year six new cardiological therapies have appeared, which were added to reimbursement as part of this path. The second list includes another three. In the case of the other five therapies, the company did not submit reimbursement applications – said Deputy Minister of Health Marek Kos.

As Mateusz Oczkowski added, subsequent refund conclusions are already affected by the drugs included in the list of cardiology. – We believe that Article 30a, which enables this procedure, is an important gamechanger of the Polish reimbursement market. Submission of applications for almost all medicines from the first list in a relatively short time seems to be a huge success – he assessed.

There are more lists in the study. They are to concern gynecology and endocrinology and gastroenterology. Their announcement is planned in the second half of this year.
