Morawiecki and Orban played only for their internal political needs – said Robert Biedroń, MEP and co-chairman of the Nowa Lewica party in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24. Poland and Hungary at the European Union summit refused to accept the migration conclusions. According to him, the head of the Polish government plays a “cynical game with society”. “That’s why we must honk like those Capitoline geese, warn Rome against barbarians who are trying to scare the public with something that doesn’t exist,” he added.

After the end of the two-day EU summit in Brussels on Friday, the President of the European Council Charles Michel informed that European Union countries failed to agree on joint conclusions on migration policy. Their adoption was opposed by Poland and Hungary.

Prime Minister Morawiecki said on Friday in Brussels that the Polish government did not agree to compulsory relocation. The head of the government declared that Poland would not agree to a change in migration policy and was in favor of a voluntary approach in this matter. However, as the TVN24 correspondent in Brussels previously explained, blocking these conclusions will not change anything about the new EU regulation on migration, which is still being worked on at another level. And as the EU Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson emphasized in an interview with TVN24, the planned new regulations there is no forced relocation of migrants.

Biedroń: We have a bizarre situation

He commented on the case in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24 Robert BiedronMEP and co-chairman of the party New Left.

– The negotiator for the preparation of these conclusions was the Prime Minister of Italy (Giorgia) Meloni, who is politically close to Morawiecki. But Morawicki and Orban did not play any consensus and solidarity, they played only for their internal political needs of Poland and Hungary. That’s why they led to the fact that there are no conclusions. But the conclusions are conclusions, work on the migration package is underway, this work will probably be completed by the end of the year, he said.

Biedroń said that in this case we are dealing with a “curious situation” because “the PiS government has the most open policy in Europe when it comes to migration.”

According to the MEP, “the most important question is what guarantees do we have that this policy of wide open doors, without any control, without any cooperation with the European Union, (…) is safe for Poland?”

Biedroń: let’s not play the game that Morawiecki is trying to throw at us

– I am in favor of accepting migrants when they need basic support. I would just like to ask Prime Minister Morawiecki – here you are doing a cabaret and a circus on the matter of less than two thousand migrants that we would accept as part of the solidarity package, and on the other hand you open your arms wide and let everyone in without any order or composition, without any control. Where is any logic here? Biedron continued.

– Let’s not play the game that Morawiecki is trying to throw at us. It’s a cynical game with society,” he said. – Ladies and gentlemen, this is a game sewn with thick threads to scare you, to divert attention from real problems with this handful of 1,800 refugees – he addressed the viewers.

“That’s why we must honk like those Capitoline geese, warn Rome against barbarians who are trying to scare the public with something that doesn’t exist,” he stressed. According to Biedroń, “there is a real problem of open doors regarding migrants who come to Poland” and “Morawiecki and his government cannot rationally explain why they pursue such a policy.”

Biedroń: It takes three to tango, we as the Left are ready for this dance

Biedroń was also asked if he believed in one more opposition list in connection with the upcoming parliamentary elections.

– Today it takes three to tango, we as the Left are ready for this dance – he declared. As he said, the issue of a joint list depends on the will of the other partners in the opposition.

– Four years ago we proposed a Senate pact, (…), today, as the Left, we propose a Seym pact – let’s sign an agreement on co-government, let’s send people this good energy that we want to co-govern, he said.
