Former oppositionists issued an appeal in connection with the use of the Institute of National Remembrance in the election campaign. According to the signatory of the appeal, Krzysztof Król, “the support of one of the candidates by a public institution is outrageous.”

Former oppositionists from the times of the Polish People's Republic wrote in an appeal that “the Act on the Institute of National Remembrance assumes that the institution is apolitical and prohibits the president from belonging to a party or conducting public activities incompatible with the dignity of the office. The IPN is to serve the memory and history common to all citizens of the Republic of Poland, regardless of their views.” .

“We are outraged that President Karol Nawrocki uses the support of the Institute of National Remembrance in his political campaign. The official social networking sites of the Institute of National Remembrance promote his candidacy. As anti-communist opposition activists, we have repeatedly criticized the Institute of National Remembrance for falsely presenting Polish history. Now further limits have been crossed,” it was noted.

Oppositionists demand “a cessation of using financial resources of a state institution for Karol Nawrocki's campaign” and “demand that the costs already incurred be charged to the Electoral Committee and the political party supporting the candidate.”

King: outrageous support for one of the candidates

As one of the signatories of the appeal, Krzysztof Król, pointed out, “The Institute of National Remembrance is a very specific institution whose apolitical nature is extremely important – to such an extent that it is included in the Act on the Institute of National Remembrance itself.”

– True, in the last years of the government PIS Institute of National Remembrance was used as a kind of historical police, but what happened after the announcement of the candidacy of the president of the Institute of National Remembrance exceeded these limits, he said.

The king also added that “after the inauguration of President Nawrocki's campaign, social networking sites – both on Facebook and on the

– To make a difference, you can look at how the city of Warsaw's websites treated it – at that time they did not inform that Rafał Trzaskowski I am running as a candidate, only that buses have been bought, the tram is being launched and plows have been put on the streets – he said.

– This shocking support of one of the candidates by a public institution is outrageous. An institution that is supposed to serve something else serves a political campaign, said the oppositionist.
