“In spring, Chemik won the Polish championship, and after a while he was left with two players. The main sponsor withdrew from the club and the volleyball giant was one step away from collapse. Today, with a new sponsor and authorities, it is painstakingly rebuilding itself, even though corpses are falling out of the closet. A giant to the rescue. Orlen will support the club
Christmas is approaching and it turns out that Christmas for the Police club came earlier this year. The chemist announced on the official website that a strategic partner had been acquired. Cooperation has been established with the Orlen concern, whose logo will be displayed on the T-shirts of the Polish champions.
– We are glad that Orlen is joining the group of Chemik's partners. For us, this is not only a token of appreciation, but also a motivation to continue working. Orlen has been actively supporting Polish volleyball for years, and cooperation with Chemik is another step towards this – in this way, cooperation in official club mediacommented the president of the club, RadosÅ‚aw GÅ‚os.
The Orlen logo will accompany Chemik's matches in various ways. It will appear on match uniforms, the court, LED banners, printed materials, as well as on the multimedia cube and interview zones.
Lidia Kołucka, Orlen's executive director for sponsorship, also commented on the cooperation.
– For many years, Orlen has been actively involved in the development of Polish volleyball. Cooperation with the Chemik Police team fits into our goals and I believe that it will bring tangible benefits not only to the club, but also to the entire community of this discipline in Poland. Our support is intended to allow the team to develop sports and achieve further successes, she admitted. Her words are also quoted by the club's media.
The cooperation between Orlen and Chemik did not go unnoticed in the media world. This is undoubtedly a chance for better times for the volleyball club. However, it also raises concerns among experts.
– It turns out that both the Polish champions and the recent three-time winner of the Champions League, ZAKSA KÄ™dzierzyn-Koźle, received oxygen for a relatively peaceful everyday life from the same giant sponsor. And you deserve applause for that fact alone. However, I am a bit concerned that without state-owned companies, even volleyball, which is successful and attracts decent interest in the country, would return to the academic and club version. And sports results – looking at the examples of ZAKSA and Chemik – mean little to potential new sponsors, outside the SSP group – commented “Wprost” journalist Maciej Piasecki.
