Eagles 2024. The Polish Film Academy awards its annual awards for the 26th time. Paweł Maślona’s film “Kos” received a record 16 nominations. “Doppelgänger. Sobowtór” by Jan Holoubek and “Filip” by Michał Kwieciński received 13 nominations each. This year’s Eagle for lifetime achievements will be awarded to Agnieszka Holland.

The Eagles Polish Film Awards are presented for the 26th time by the Polish Film Academy, which brings together almost 900 representatives of Polish film. The awards are granted in 20 categories, including lifetime achievements. This year’s winner in the latter category is Agnieszka Holland. The author of, among others, 20 full-length feature films, she is the third woman and the first director honored for her lifetime achievements. Previously, these were actresses: Danuta Szaflarska in 2013 and Maja Komorowska in 2020.

Eagles 2024. Nominees and nominees

Since 2014, the gala has been held at the Polish Theater in Warsaw – except for the 23rd ceremony in 2021, which took place at the headquarters of the Służewiec Horse Racing Track.

According to the Academy, this year 86 titles that met the regulations applied for nomination in the best film category. Ultimately, five films were nominated: “Chłopi” directed by DK Welchman and Hugh Welchman, “Doppelgänger. Doppelganger” directed by Jan Holoubek, “Filip” directed by Michał Kwieciński, “Kos” directed by Paweł Maślony and “The Green Border” directed by Agnieszka Holland.

The most nominations for Eagles 2024 were “Kos” by Paweł Maślony. At the same time, the 16 nominations he received are a new record in the history of the awards. Previous record holders were: “Corpus Christi” by Jan Komasa and “25 Years of Innocence. The Case of Tomek Komenda” by Jan Holoubek. Both titles received 15 nominations. “Corpus Christi” was recognized with 11 awards, the largest number of Eagles for one film.

Holoubek’s “Doppelgänger. Sobowtór” and Michał Kwieciński’s “Filip” did equally well this year, and were nominated 13 times each.

There were 70 titles competing for the nomination in the best documentary film category that met the regulations. In the feature film series category, five titles were nominated out of 21 that met the conditions of the regulations.
