Hugh Grant performed at the Oscars this year, presenting the award for the best set design on the stage of the Dolby Theatre. But it’s not this performance that gets the most commentary. His short interview before the gala aroused much more emotions.

The British actor presented the award for the best production design at the 95th Academy Awards with Andie MacDowell, with whom he once co-starred in the highest-grossing British film Four Weddings and a Funeral. On stage, he shone with a rather characteristic wit. “The reason for this (appearing on stage – ed.) is twofold,” he said. “The first is to draw attention to moisturizers. Andie uses them every day, I don’t,” he added to MacDowell. “Still delightful.”

Hugh Grant and “the worst Oscar interview ever”?

However, more comments were received by Hugh Grant’s performance on the red, or rather champagne colored carpet this year. He was accosted there by model Ashley Graham, who conducted pre-Oscar interviews for American television. The interview quotes the British “The Guardian”. The model asked the actor what he likes most about the Oscars. After an awkward pause, the actor replied, “It’s fascinating… All of humanity is here… it’s Vanity Fair.” Although the presenter picked it up as a reference to the Vanity Fair magazine’s Oscar party, it seems that Grant was referring more to the title of the book Vanity Fair. But that was just the beginning.

– What do you most want to see tonight? the interviewer asked. – see? Nothing special, he replied. – And what are you wearing tonight? – Just my suit. – Who sewed it? – I don’t remember, my tailor. “Tell me what it’s like to be in Glass Onion, it was an amazing movie, I really enjoyed it, I love thrillers,” Graham said. – Is it fun to shoot something like this? – Well, I was barely in it. I showed up for about three seconds,” he replied. – But you did show up. And you had fun with it, didn’t you? the model asked. “Almost,” Grant ended the conversation.

The interview, widely commented on, especially in the British media, has already been dubbed “the worst Oscar interview ever” on social media. The actor’s behavior towards the model was rather not liked by the commentators.
