“IO” by Jerzy Skolimowski, which was a candidate for the Oscar in the Best Foreign Language Film category, lost to the main favorite – the American-German “No Changes in the West”. – This huge promotional machine that stood behind our competitors worked – actor Mateusz Kościukiewicz told Marcin Wrona of “Fakty” TVN. His colleague from the plan “IO”, Sandra Drzymalska, emphasized that the nomination itself “is something very big”.

There was no surprise. During the 95th gala the Oscars the award for the best foreign-language film was awarded to “In the West without Change”. One of the competitors of Edward Bergher’s production was IO directed by Jerzy Skolimowski. After the verdict of the Film Academy was announced, Marcin Wrona, the correspondent of “Fakty” TVN, talked to the members of the cast of the Polish candidate for the Oscar.

– There is no shortage in me. It is still a huge thing that I can be here and experience all this, together with Jerzy and the whole team. We should stop focusing on the fact that we could have achieved something more, because just being nominated is a lot. We should enjoy this moment and that we represent our cinematography – emphasized actress Sandra Drzymalska. She added that she was “fascinated” by what was happening at the Oscars. “The project was beautifully arranged artistically,” she explained.

The correspondent of “Fakty” also talked to another actor from the cast of “IO”, Mateusz Kościukiewicz. – We had a very good reception, a lot of people supported us and said that they liked our film. They were also a bit disappointed with this verdict. You could see that independent filmmakers from all over the world were with us. Unfortunately, this huge promotional machine that was behind our competitors worked. We are not in Europe, but in the States, here the rules of the game are a bit different – emphasized Kościukiewicz.
