OSCE Summit. Sergei Lavrov starts speaking, some diplomats get up and leave. Recording

Some diplomats left the room during the OSCE summit when the head of Russian diplomacy, Sergei Lavrov, began his statement. Some countries – including Poland – boycotted the summit due to the presence of a Kremlin representative and did not send their representatives there.

The OSCE summit is held in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia. It is one of the 57 member states of this organization Russia. Thanks to the temporary lifting of the flight ban from Russia, he flew to the meeting Sergei LavrovRussian foreign minister.

Lavrov spoke at the official summit session on Thursday. The recording shows that when it was his turn, many diplomats got up and left the room.

Boycott the summit

Due to Lavrov’s presence, the summit is being boycotted, among others, by Poland. Minister of Foreign Affairs Szymon Szynkowski aka Sęk announced on Wednesday that due to the presence of the head of Russian diplomacy, neither he nor anyone from the management of the Polish ministry will go to Skopje. Earlier, officials from the Baltic states had announced such a step Ukraine.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Romania Luminita Odobescu is present at the OSCE summit in Skopje, but refused to attend the official session in which Lavrov took part.

The head of Romanian diplomacy took part in an informal dinner on Wednesday, at which the Russian minister was not present, noted the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bucharest. He added that during the official session of the 30th Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, Romania was represented by the country’s ambassador to the OSCE.

The annual OSCE summit will last until Friday.
