Ostrołęka. Judgment after a deadly accident in Rzekuń. The court sentenced the Maserati driver

The court sentenced the Maserati driver for causing a fatal accident near Ostrołęka. The 20-year-old heard a sentence of two and a half years in prison, he also has a six-year ban on driving motor vehicles. In the Court's opinion, his bravado led to a tragedy. On the curve of the road he collided head -on with another vehicle. A 42-year-old driver was killed.

The District Prosecutor's Office in Ostrołęka informed about the judgment in the case of Piotr R.. The case concerns accident of June 13, 2023 in Rzekuń.

The proceedings before the District Court in Ostrołęka ended on Wednesday, May 14. “The court found the accused guilty of committing the alleged act and imposed him a penalty of 2 years and 6 months imprisonment and ruled the ban on driving all motor vehicles for a period of 6 years” – informs prosecutor Elżbieta Edyta Łukasiewicz, spokeswoman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Ostrołęka.

The convict will also have to pay a compensation of PLN 180,000 to the injured passenger whose husband died as a result of an accident.

Front collision on the curve of the road

The accident occurred just after midnight, on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. The 18-year-old man rode a passenger Maserati. “When crossing the arch of the road, he pulled into the opposite lane and hit a Hyundai passenger car driven by Andrzej L. As a result of a hit, the Hyundai vehicle was pushed to the side of the road. At the time of the incident, Piotr R. was sober” – reminds prosecutor Łukasiewicz.

The marriage of Hyundai was married to the hospital – Andrzej and Aneta L. The man suffered serious injuries, as a result of which he died in the hospital. The woman suffered general bruises and head injuries.

In March last year, the Maserati driver was accused of intentional violation of road traffic rules, which was the consequence of causing a road accident with a fatal effect.

“The bravado caused him to contribute to the death of another person”

The prosecutor's office reports that during hearings before the court, the accused confessed to committing the act, apologized to the victim Aneta L. and gave explanations.

“The court questioned the victim, whose husband died as a result of an accident, and witnesses, an expert in the field of road traffic, who prepared an opinion in the case. He also conducted other evidence in the case. The court proceedings fully confirmed the findings of the prosecutor's investigation” – emphasizes the spokeswoman of the prosecutor's office.

– This irresponsible behavior of the accused took the future of L.'s spouses leaving Aneta L. in mourning. The accused did not meet the requirements imposed on him by road traffic law, he did not work as a responsible driver, he committed a violation of traffic regulations in a gross way. Brawura caused him to contribute to the death of another person – said judge Mirosław Parzych, quoted in the pages of eostroleka.pl.
