Ostrow Wielkopolski. A three-year-old burnt by the heat of a bonfire is in the hospital

A three-year-old girl from Bibianki (Greater Poland Voivodeship) with third-degree burns was hospitalized in Ostrów Wielkopolski after she fell into the embers left by the fire.

On Wednesday, in one of the farms in the village of Bibianka in the Ostrów district, a bonfire was made, which was not extinguished. The next day, a 3-year-old girl walked into the embers of the campfire. An emergency medical team was called to the scene, which took the child to the hospital in Ostrow.

She suffered third degree burns

The 3-year-old girl was admitted to the department of pediatric surgery and traumatology with the burn treatment subdepartment of the hospital in Ostrów Wielkopolski.

The head of the department, Witold Miaśkiewicz, MD, PhD, said that the girl suffered third-degree burns to the body and lower limb. “You will need surgery to perform the transplant,” he explained.

As he pointed out, “the only positive information is that 15 percent of the body was burned, as a result of which no inflammation is generated.”
