In the park, next to a group of young people, a 16-year-old boy lay unconscious. A passer-by became interested in the boy's fate and called an ambulance.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening in the North Park on Reymonta Street in Ostrów Wielkopolski. While walking, one of the residents noticed a group of teenagers and a boy lying next to them. He called an ambulance, which took the unconscious teenager to the hospital.
– He was brought in serious condition and required admission to the pediatric intensive care unit – said hospital spokesman doctor Adam Stangret.
The boy has already recovered and left the facility.
Police investigation
The Ostrów police are investigating the case, as the cause of the 16-year-old's poor condition was alcohol.
– The hospital notified us of the situation. We have initiated proceedings to determine the circumstances of the alcohol consumption by the 16-year-old boy, who was taken to hospital in serious condition – informed on Tuesday Deputy Commissioner Małgorzata Michaś, spokeswoman for the Ostrów police. She added that officers will determine how the teenager got drunk and who sold him the alcohol. Selling alcohol to people under 18 is punishable by a high fine and loss of the alcohol license.
