On Saturday afternoon, the duty officer of the Ostrow police station received a report that a young elk had fallen into the fire tank located in Ostrów Mazowiecka at Warszawska Street and could not get out of it.

“When police officers from Ostrów arrived, firefighters tried to help the animal get out of the tank. Unfortunately, the frightened animal did not want to cooperate, and each attempt to approach the elk caused him more and more stress and unpredictable reactions” – describes Marzena Laczkowska, press officer of the police in Ostrów Mazowiecka.

“Under the supervision of a veterinarian, the animal was given a sedative and only then the animal was pulled out of the water. The moose was recovering in peace” – informs the policewoman.

“Currently, the sight of wild animals in the city is not surprising. However, it does not mean that they are tame to the sight of humans. A frightened animal can be dangerous to a person who tries to help it. In such a situation, the services that have more power should be notified the possibility of providing the necessary assistance to the animal.
