Police from Otwock have detained a man suspected of stealing fuel. They determined that he had drilled tanks and then drained their contents. The 36-year-old was charged with nine offences and placed under police supervision.

Police officers from Otwock noticed that in Józefów “a criminal has been stealing fuel since April”.

“His modus operandi was to damage the tank by drilling and then drain the fuel, leaving the vehicle damaged,” junior asp. Patryk Domarecki from the District Police Headquarters in Otwock described in a statement.

There were nine such incidents. In August, there was a breakthrough in the case. Officers identified a 36-year-old suspect living in Otwock. They reported that the man had had problems with the law in the past. They determined his exact address and paid him a visit.

Charges and police supervision

The 36-year-old was detained and taken to the Otwock police station. There, he was charged with burglary and nine counts of destruction of property. The man will be held accountable under recidivism conditions, and faces up to 15 years in prison.
