Police officers from the Otwock police station, who deal with combating economic crime on a daily basis, noticed that a large number of perfumes with counterfeit registered trademarks of well-known global brands appeared on the local market. “Sales were conducted mainly via the Internet. They tracked the first fraudster in Warsaw,” explained Assistant Commissioner Patryk Domarecki from the District Police Headquarters in Otwock.

The policeman said that in connection with this case, a 24-year-old man was arrested and charged with “trading in goods with counterfeit registered trademarks of famous brands, which he turned into a permanent source of income.” The man faces up to five years in prison. The District Prosecutor's Office in Otwock placed the suspect under police surveillance.

“The first arrest was the tip of the iceberg. The police, following the trail of money, identified other people involved in the criminal activity,” Domarecki said. He explained that the criminals used mobile warehouses in vans specially adapted for this purpose. The criminal investigators determined that both the cars with the goods and the suspects would be staying in Wólka Kosowska on the night of November 13-14.

“The police decided to carry out a night execution, during which they detained four more suspects. They were three Armenian citizens aged 27 to 33 and a 34-year-old Polish citizen,” Domarecki said.
