– Three driving bans, including one for life, and even extreme alcohol intoxication did not stop a 51-year-old resident of Otwock from getting behind the wheel – says a spokesman for the Otwock police. The dangerous driving was stopped by the officers. The detained person has already been charged.

Police officers from the Road Traffic Department in Otwock patrolled the city center during night duty. On Świderska Street they noticed a man driving a Fiat whose “driving style indicated that he may be under the influence of alcohol.” The officers stopped the driver for inspection.

– When the man opened the window, the police knew that the man was driving on double gas. During the alcohol test, the 51-year-old blew more than 2.5 per mille of alcohol – informs Patryk Domaradzki, press officer of the Otwock police.

– Moreover, when the man was checked in the police IT systems, it turned out that he had three active driving bans, including one for life – he adds.

He was charged and faces five years in prison

When the 52-year-old sobered up, he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol while legally prohibited from driving.

He pleaded guilty. He faces a sentence of up to five years in prison. The case is being investigated under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office in Otwock, which has placed the man under police supervision.

– Even a small dose of alcohol or a similar substance affects the driver's concentration, which increases the risk of an accident. Driving under the influence of alcohol leads to problems with motor coordination, slower reactions, and even loss of contact with reality – reminds Domaradzki.
