Up to two years in prison – this is the penalty for a 25-year-old driver from the Otyń commune (Lubuskie Voivodeship). The drunk man got behind the wheel of the car and caused the vehicle to roll over. It quickly turned out that the 25-year-old did not even have a driving license. Now he will explain himself to the court.

On Friday night, policemen from Nowy Sącz witnessed a road incident. On one of the roads in the Otyń commune (Lubuskie Voivodeship) they noticed a Nissan driving from the opposite direction making a sudden turn and capsizing onto the roof. – Officers quickly drove up to the Nissan to see if anyone needed help. The driver got outside the car on his own. As it turned out, he traveled alone – informed the junior aspirant Justyna Sęczkowska, a spokeswoman for the police in Nowy Sącz.

The policemen immediately noticed the smell of alcohol from the man. – The 25-year-old did not adjust the speed to the driving conditions, as a result of which he did not control his vehicle and the car overturned. The sobriety test showed over two per mille of alcohol in his body – reports the spokeswoman.

The driver was stopped. His blood was taken for further tests. Moreover, after checking the police systems, it turned out that the 25-year-old had never had a driving license.

He will stand trial

Drunken driving is punishable by up to two years imprisonment, a heavy fine and a driving ban. – The driver will not avoid responsibility for the offenses committed. His fate will be decided by the court – Sęczkowska said. And she added: – Let us remember that every drunk driver on the road is a potential perpetrator of human misfortune. Police officers appeal to drivers to be reasonable, to obey traffic rules and to have limited trust in other road users.
