The number of foreigners in retirement insurance has exceeded one million. About 729,000 people are citizens of Ukraine – such data from the end of June were provided by the president of the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS), professor Gertruda Uścińska. She added that in recent months a steady increase in the number of foreigners working in Poland can be observed.
– The number of foreigners in the retirement pension insurance exceeded the historic barrier of one million people and amounted to 1.012 million people. This is 21,000 more than in May and 342,000 more than in February 2020. Two thirds of the growth of foreigners in the ZUS registers are citizens Ukraine. Their number is already around 729,000 people – informed Uścińska.
More foreigners in ZUS registers
She noted that Social Security analyzes the number of foreigners in retirement insurance on an ongoing basis. – We have been looking at this data in detail for several years. Recently, the Polish labor market has become very attractive for citizens of other countries, especially for Ukrainians – emphasized the head of ZUS.
– Along with the explosion war in Ukraine we have not noticed that the citizens of this country have been deregistered en masse from insurance. This is also confirmed by the current – historical data. In recent months, we have constantly observed an increase in the number of foreigners working in Poland, including Ukrainians – added Uścińska.
She emphasized that Ukrainian citizens who came to Poland after the outbreak of the war, more and more often take up work in our country. – According to the data of the family ministry, more than 307,000 Ukrainian citizens started working in Poland from March 15th. In recent months, the largest number of people have found employment in the Mazowieckie, Dolnośląskie and Wielkopolskie voivodships – indicated the president of ZUS.
