Police officers from Pabianice (Łódź Voivodeship) detained a 24-year-old and a 33-year-old who went on a scooter ride through the city streets at night while under the influence of alcohol. One of the men also had methamphetamine on him. He claimed it was cat litter.

The incident took place on June 1 in the center of Pabianice. Police officers patrolling the city noticed two men riding a scooter on the sidewalk and stopped them for inspection. They smelled alcohol coming from the driver and passenger. It turned out that the 24-year-old driver of the two-wheeler had more than one and a half per mille of alcohol in his exhaled air, and he also had an active driving ban.

According to junior aspirant Łukasz Pierzyński from the police in Pabianice, after checking the databases, it turned out that the 33-year-old passenger of the scooter was wanted to serve a prison sentence. – During the search, the officers discovered a bag with a white crystalline substance, which, as the man explained, was litter for his cat. A preliminary drug test showed that the substance was a methamphetamine drug weighing over two grams, the policeman said.

The driver will be liable to court for driving a moped while under the influence of alcohol or driving it despite a driving ban. He faces a penalty of up to five years in prison. A passenger of a two-wheeler is liable to imprisonment for up to three years for possession of narcotic drugs.
