Pabianice, S14. The 75-year-old was cycling on the expressway from Elbląg to Rybnik

Police officers detained a 75-year-old man near Łódź who was cycling on the S14 expressway. As it turned out, the man was returning from Elbląg in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship to his home in Rybnik in Silesia. It is a distance of almost 600 kilometers. He explained to the uniformed officers that he did not know the area, he was found by a downpour, and in addition his phone was discharged.

Police officers from Pabianice near Łódź were notified on Friday (June 23) of a man riding a bicycle on the S14 expressway. A traffic police patrol was sent to the spot, which noticed the irresponsible cyclist and stopped him.

He was going from Elbląg to Rybnik

“The 75-year-old explained to the officers that he was coming from Elbląg and did not know the area. He added that he was a resident of Rybnik, and on his way home he was met by a downpour and his phone was discharged” – said staff sergeant Agnieszka Jachimek from the Pabianice police in a message.

Elbląg is located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodship, and Rybnik – in the Śląskie Voivodeship. Both cities are separated by a route of about 550-600 kilometers. In this case, the 75-year-old chose a road on which he should not be cycling.

Police officers forbade the cyclist from continuing to ride on the expressway. “We would like to remind you that cyclists cannot use motorways or expressways. These roads are not intended for them. This also applies to the case of using the emergency lane or roadside” – noted Jachimek.
