A few weeks ago, Raków Częstochowa unexpectedly announced that Dawid Szwarga would leave the club after the autumn round. “At the end of the autumn round, Dawid Szwarga – after more than three years – will leave Raków Częstochowa. (…) Coach, there will be time to thank you for all the great moments. But there are still a few important matches ahead of us!” – reported on X.
A moment later, it turned out that in December, after the last league weekend, Szwarga would take over Arka Gdynia, and his contract would be valid until the end of June 2026 with an extension option.
“I feel that this is the right time to use the knowledge and experience I have gathered so far in a new club for me and leave my positive mark on it. I like the vision of the development of Arka Gdynia presented by the owner, and the key issue for me when making the decision was the common my vision of Sports Director Veljko Nikitovic regarding the functioning of the staff and team” – said Szwarga, quoted by the club's media.
Dawid Szwarga will leave Raków after the autumn round. Marek Papszun broke the silence
Marek Papszun was asked to comment on Dawid Szwarga's decision during the press conference before the match against Pogoń Szczecin. “I accepted Dawid's request to terminate the contract and leave because I simply knew that if he decided to do so, he had thought it through very carefully and considered that this was the moment, the club and the project he could join,” the coach began. Rakowa.
“Dawid had several proposals before we started working together again or even during the round and he didn't take up these topics then. I trusted his decision. Out of respect for him and what we had achieved together, I did not want to stand in the way of this change in any way. I will always keep my fingers crossed for him,” he emphasized. “Today, we are still working together and we still have a few games ahead of us, a few challenges. I believe that he will leave with a good atmosphere of having done a good job, also in this last period,” he added.
Later in his speech, he spoke about Szwarga's successor. “Will anyone join? Probably yes, there will probably be a replacement. Not 1 to 1, because replacing Dawid will not be easy, but we will probably divide these forces among several coaches,” he revealed.
