There are riots in France. Vincent Jeanbrun, the mayor of the town of L’Haÿ-les-Roses near Paris, announced on social media that his house was attacked on Saturday night. The attackers allegedly used the car as a battering ram. “My wife and one of the small children were injured during the escape,” added the politician, who is also a spokesman for the French Republicans party.

“Tonight was the height of infamy. My home was attacked and my family was the victim of an assassination attempt,” Vincent Jeanbrun, mayor of the Parisian town of L’Haÿ-les-Roses, tweeted.

Around one o’clock at night, an unknown number of rioters attacked the house of a well-known politician in the village. The fence was forced over by a car, which was then set on fire.

Jeanbrun was not at home, because of the ongoing riots, he stayed at the town hall all the time. His wife and two small children were at home. The noise woke the woman who left the house with her children through the back door, where she was attacked by people using pyrotechnics, BFM TV reported. After a while, the police arrived on the spot.

My wife and one of the children were injured, the mayor said. The woman was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, BFM TV added. “It was an unimaginably cowardly assassination attempt,” added Jeanbrun.

The Prosecutor’s Office in Creteil has launched an investigation into attempted murder, the media reported.

Jeanbrun is the party’s press officer Republicans (LR), for several days has been calling on the government to introduce in connection with the ongoing throughout France riots state of emergency. “I am more determined than ever to protect and serve the Republic. I will not back down,” he assured.
