These elections will decide whether we will return to the democratic path, the path of compliance with the rule of law, and real, full integration with the European Union – said KO’s candidate for senator, former Ombudsman Adam Bodnar, on TVN24. He added that during the elections we will also decide “whether we will finally receive funds from the National Reconstruction Plan.”
Bodnar in “One on One” on TVN24 compared Sunday’s elections to those from 1989. In his opinion, “these elections will determine the political system of the Republic of Poland for many years.”
– They will decide whether we will return to the democratic path, the path of compliance with the rule of law, real, full integration with the European Union, and loyal relations with the Union and other countries. Will we continue to sink into authoritarianism, towards the domination of political will over the law, over the constitution, or will we go down the road towards undermining our European integration – he said.
He stressed that “it’s not like we are the first to go down this path.” – We have to compare it to what happened on… Hungarywhere there is virtually no normal democracy anymore – said the former Ombudsman.
Bodnar: the election results determine whether we will receive funds from the KPO
Bodnar emphasized that the election results “will also determine whether we will finally receive funds from the National Reconstruction Plan and whether we will participate normally in the distribution of funds from the EU budget.”
– Whereas European Union must trust partners. It cannot be that all basic European values are being questioned in Poland – not only the rule of law, but also discrimination issues, or in general the issues of the normal, ordinary functioning of the state – and the European Union says: “we don’t care, you will get the money anyway.” “. Building this relationship is very important, he pointed out.
