Voters aged 50-59 were the largest group voting in the parliamentary elections. Attendance in this group increased by almost a quarter compared to 2019. At the same time, the support of people aged 50-59 for Law and Justice has decreased. A slight decline in support for PiS was recorded even among people over 60 years of age and retirees.
According to the Ipsos exit poll, as many as 83.2% of voters aged 50 to 59 cast their votes. entitled. This age group turned out to be unrivaled in terms of the number of voters.
For comparison, in the 2019 Sejm elections, turnout among voters aged 50-59 was 59.6%. Therefore, there was an increase of almost one quarter, i.e. 23.6 percentage points.
The Civic Coalition gained
As the number of voters increased, support for individual committees also changed.
According to the Ipsos exit poll, 44.2% of voters voted in this year’s Sejm elections. voters in the 50-59 age group voted for PiS. This means a decrease of 7 percentage points (51.2%) compared to 2019.
The Civic Coalition, which was supported by 32.9 percent, gained. voters in this age group. In the previous Sejm elections it was 26.3 percent. Thus, KO recorded an increase of 6.6 percentage points.
Moreover, 11.8 percent votes in the 50-59 age group received the Third Way, which consists of Szymon Hołownia’s Polska 2050 and the Polish People’s Party. The next place was taken by the Left – 5.1%. votes, and Confederation – 2.9 percent.
This is how seniors voted
A slight increase in turnout also applies to the 60+ age group, with 66.2 percent. in 2019 to 67 percent in 2023.
Seniors gave 53 percent. votes for PiS, which is slightly less than in 2019, when it was 55.8 percent.
At the same time, the number of voters for KO increased – from 25.2 percent. to 31.3 percent Third Way candidates achieved the third result – 7.5%. Right behind the podium was the Left – 5.2 percent. Only 1 percent voted for the Confederation. voters over 60 years of age.
According to the Ipsos exit poll, 53.7 percent voting pensioners supported PiS, and 30.9 percent Civic Coalition. For comparison, in the 2019 parliamentary elections it was 56.9 and 24.4 percent, respectively.
