The more women in politics, the more women’s issues are on the agenda. And the turnout of the fair sex in the next parliament will depend largely on the electoral decisions of Polish women, argued Professor Renata Mieńkowska-Norkiene in the program “Czas Decyzji. Campaign” on TVN24.

The “Time of Decisions. Campaign” program is new TVN24 programwhich is broadcast from Monday to Friday at 5.30 p.m. On Friday, the guest of the program was Dr. hab. Renata Mieńkowska-Norkiene, political scientist and sociologist from the University of Warsaw.

– Women tend to have their feet firmly on the ground. This is not a stereotype, this is what the research results say. This means that women think rationally, task-oriented – said Mieńkowska-Norkiene on TVN24. According to her, women “think broader than just about their own narrow field.”

As she emphasized, “the more women in politics, the more women’s issues are on the agenda.” And – as she added – the turnout of the fair sex in the next parliament will depend largely on the electoral decisions of Polish women.

The expert pointed out that issues that are particularly important for women concern “family, children, health care and education.” – These are all things that, at the moment, this highly masculinized government has basically left aside and is not dealing with it – she said.

As she said, the research results indicate that “women will rather vote for the democratic opposition and candidates who are not very radical.” – Fewer women vote for the Confederation, though Confederation he also tries to appropriate them in some way – noted Mieńkowska-Norkiene.

In her opinion, due to changes in the abortion law for Polish women, “their vital interest today is the protection of health and life.” – Unfortunately, many women have been forced in some way to think about politics in the context of threats to their lives and health – she said. Therefore, she added, it can be assumed that “actually more women will vote for the opposition, or rather fewer for PiS.”

Mieńkowska-Norkiene also pointed out that women are also retirees. – The current government has really given a lot to retirees, and let us remember that between 2014 and 2023 the number of retirees increased by over three million – she noted.

LOOK: Women in the campaign, questions about electoral lists and quotas

This year Law and Justice gave women 10 “number ones” on the electoral lists, which is two more than in the previous ones elections. The Civic Coalition, in turn, has 17 women’s “ones”, which is three more than four years ago. The Left gave the first places to women in 14 constituencies, and Third Way in 10. In the previous elections, the Confederation put two women at the head of the electoral lists, and this year only one.
