We are faced with the choice of a strong Poland in the large European Union or a Poland that continues to marginalize itself and does not receive these funds, said MEP Radosław Sikorski from the Civic Platform. As he said, the failure to pay out funds from the National Reconstruction Plan is the fault of “those who violate the rule of law, those who do not fulfill the conditions they agreed upon.”

PO MEP, former Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski he said on Monday at a conference in Lublin that “we are faced with the choice of a strong Poland in the large European Union or a Poland that continues to marginalize itself and does not receive these funds.”

It resembled “Morawiecki’s billboards worth PLN 770 billion.” – It was a lie then, because he added cohesion funds, but the lie became the truth, because cohesion funds are now also suspended – he emphasized. – PLN 770 billion. There are three hundred and several dozen counties in Poland. This means approximately PLN 2 billion per district. On average, a county has four to five communes. This means half a billion zlotys for each Polish commune – Sikorski calculated.

This, he said, “is money from which we can complete the modernization of Poland, so that our infrastructure, physical, telecommunications, digital, energy, but also institutional, can really catch up with Western Europe.” – Nationalists are depriving us of this opportunity in the name of some imaginary threats about some supposedly deprived of our sovereignty. I appeal not to be fooled by these arguments, he said.

– I’ve seen Brexit, I know where it begins and how the film ends. Only the British are an island, they have London, they have the Beatles, Shakespeare, Pink Floyd and the atomic bomb. They’ll be fine. It may be a little worse for us, warned the PO politician.

Sikorski: Those who do not fulfill the conditions agreed upon by themselves are to blame

As Sikorski said, the failure to pay out funds from the KPO is the fault of “those who violate the rule of law, those who do not fulfill the agreed terms themselves.” – I was in Strasbourg. I sat close to Ursula von der Leyen and Mateusz Morawiecki. The President of the European Commission said what are the three conditions for the payment of funds. It was the abolition of the muzzle law, the end of repression of Polish judges and allowing Polish judges to ask preliminary questions – he recalled.

– And to help Poland and even Morawiecki, I asked a question because he gave a Europhobic, aggressive, nationalist speech. I say: Okay, you’ve already said what you had to do to please Kaczyński. But now I’m asking you – will you meet these conditions or not? And he said – you can check – that he will fulfill them. That was two years ago and he still hasn’t fulfilled them, said the politician.
