Kazakhstan’s ruling Amanat party won 53.46 percent of the vote in Sunday’s parliamentary elections, according to an exit poll conducted by the Eurasian Integration Institute, quoted by Reuters.

Another institute, SOCIS-A, reported that its data gave the ruling party 54.42 percent. votes. In the early parliamentary elections, in which independent candidates were allowed to stand for the first time, around 12 million people were eligible to vote.

Lowered electoral threshold
