– On the issue of civil partnerships, we were honest with our voters from the very beginning, because we said and presented our opinion – said Piotr Zgorzelski (PSL-Trzecia Droga) in “Kropka nad i”. – This is not only a matter of dignity, it is not only a matter of love. These are very practical issues that are simply needed by people who have been living together for years, said Aleksandra Gajewska (KO).

Guests of “Kropka nad i” – Deputy Minister of Family, Labor and Social Policy Aleksandra Gajewska (KO) and Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Piotr Zgorzelski (PSL-Trzecia Droga) – they referred to the draft law on civil partnerships, about which talks are ongoing within the ruling coalition.

Gajewska: it is not just a matter of dignity

– This is not only a matter of dignity, it is not only a matter of love. These are very practical issues that are simply needed by people who have been living together for years, said Aleksandra Gajewska.

– This is a matter of information about health status and decisions about treatment. This is a matter of handing over the body and burial. These are issues related to benefits if a partner becomes ill, pensions, insurance. These are matters of property and statutory inheritance. These are things that are related to statutory obligations and privileges that, for example, married couples have, but also to the obligations of partners who run a common household – she mentioned.

As she said, “this should be regulated, this is what we expect, this is what we are waiting for, this is what we have worked out, this is what the majority of Polish women support.” – If we look at the latest surveys that have been conducted, the majority of Poles are in favor of legalizing civil partnerships – she added.

Zgorzelski: we are in favor of two people being happy

Piotr Zgorzelski (PSL-TD) said that “his party is absolutely in favor of two people being happy.” – But on the issue of civil partnerships, we were honest with our voters from the very beginning, because we said and presented our opinion when it comes to the law on civil partnerships, which was to be presented by the Left, which was to contain elements that, from the point of view of the MPs, but also the voters of the Polish People's Party were unacceptable – he noted.

– This was articulated before elections and therefore it did not become the subject of the coalition agreement – he added. He also stated that “at the end of the legislative process is the president, who is a conservative and will not sign this bill.”

Piotr Zgorzelski also said that the Minister for Equality Katarzyna Kotula today she presented the bill to the vice president PSL, MP Urszula Pasławska. – There are social elements in this project that we talked about, which I also believe should be a convenience for couples, regardless of whether they are homosexual or heterosexual couples, such as joint tax returns before the Tax Office – he said.

– After hearing about this project, Mrs. Pasławska will certainly present it to our club without undue delay – he added.
