Photos for the latest film Pedro Almodovar “Amarg Navidad” have started. The premiere of the 25th Almodovar feature film film is announced next year. The main roles will include, among others: Barbara Lennie, Aitana Sanchez-Gijon, Milena Smit and Quim Gutierrez.

The full -length plot in the legendary filmmaker's achievements is “Amarga Navidad” (literal translation: “bitter Christmas”). Almodovar is also the author of the script. El Desseo is responsible for the production – belonging to the director and his brother Agustin – in cooperation with the Spanish production and streaming company Movistar Plus+.

According to Movistar Plus+ press information, “Amarga Navidad” will first go to Spanish cinemas. Warner Bros will be the Spanish cinema distributor. Pictures Spain. The premiere is announced for next year. The Spanish streaming service also announced that the film's photos started at the beginning of June and are taken in Madrid and Lanzarote.

The starred cast included: Barbara Lennie, Aitana Sanchez-Gijon, Milena Smit, Quim Gutierrez, Leonardo Sbaraglia, Victoria Lungo and Patrick Criado. Lennie, Sanchez-Gijów, Smit, Sbaraglia have already appeared in Almodovar's films.

The tempo she imposed on herself, interrupts a panic attack, which makes her rest,” reads the official description of the film.

“Her partner Bonifacio becomes a rock at these moments of crisis. Elsa decides to travel to Lanzarote in the company of a friend – Patricia, who also needs to escape Madrid, while Bonifacio stays in the city” – explains the producers.

Almodovar is intertwined with a story about the real filmmaker of Raul Duranie. “The history of these three people and several others takes place parallel to the one about the scriptwriter and director of Raul Duranie, combining fiction with reality. 'Amarga Navidad' examines how real life and fiction are inseparably connected with each other, sometimes also painfully,” he is noted in the description.
