Brejza: the commission is to answer how PiS created a mechanism that was supposed to destroy political opponents

In the Friday edition of “Fakty po Faktach”, MEP Krzysztof Brejza (Civic Coalition), who is one of the people under surveillance with Pegasus, talked about the case. – I would really like to see the system of destroying people constructed by politicians exposed PIS using this cyber weapon, he emphasized.

– The commission is to answer how PiS created a mechanism for combining government television, services, the PiS prosecutor’s office, staffed by Ziobro’s people, who was supposed to destroy political opponents and influence the course of elections – said Brejza.

As he emphasized, “first of all, the commission is to create mechanisms, respond to the needs of the future, create such supervision over the secret services, over operational control, over the development of technology, so that such stories will never happen again in Poland.” – So that no services ever mess with our viewers’ phones, smartphones that contain a large part of their personal and private lives, with dirty hands – added the MEP.

Brejza: I have already won seven cases

Brejza said that in his case it was “hacking into the phone, data transmission, content changed.” – I have already won seven cases, including one against the propagandist Pereira, which concerned the essence of the case, i.e. slander against a former PiS activist. I won the case with TVP because we were unable to sue the propagandist quickly enough because he did not receive the lawsuits, he said.

– I won a case for falsified correspondence, this is incredible. My text messages were stolen and published on government television in a falsified form. I won one more case against TVP, several against Orlen’s media, also for slander related to the Pegasus case – he added.

The Pegasus surveillance case

About purchasing a modern surveillance system It was first reported in September 2018 by tvn24.pl journalist Robert Zieliński. At the end of 2021, a group of researchers from Citizen Lab, operating at the University of Toronto, identified people in Poland under surveillance with Pegasus software – including then KO senator Krzysztof Brejza.

In January 2022 NIK disclosed invoices for the “purchase of special technology measures for detecting and preventing crime” for a total amount of PLN 25 million. Finance for this purchase Central Anticorruption Bureau received from the Justice Fund. The Supreme Audit Office’s announcement did not specify what device it was talking about. However, the Chamber noted that “funds from the Justice Fund could not be transferred to the CBA.”

Later, the purchase of the Pegasus software was confirmed by the PiS president himself Jaroslaw Kaczynski in an interview for the weekly “Sieci”.
