Pegasus. Surveillance proceedings. Senator Krzysztof Brejza: the case is a great threat to PiS

This is one big bag of crimes, which is why the prosecutor does not want to do anything in this investigation – said Senator of the Civic Coalition, Krzysztof Brejza, commenting on the actions of the prosecutor’s office in the proceedings to obtain access to the senator’s phone using the Pegasus system. “I have been a victim for two years in an investigation where nothing is happening,” he added.

The District Prosecutor’s Office in Ostrów Wielkopolski announced the initiation of proceedings to obtain access to the phone of Krzysztof Brejza, Senator of the Civic Coalition, in January 2022.

Senator Brejza submitted a notification to the prosecutor’s office at the end of September 2021. In it, he indicated that it was about the illegal interception of correspondence from his phone when he was the head of the electoral staff of the KO. As he indicated in the notification, the obtained content was then published on government television.

According to TVN24 reporter Aleksander Przybylski, the investigation is still at an early stage. – The prosecutor’s office collects evidence, interrogates witnesses, secures documentation – he reported. The journalist talked to the prosecutor, Marcin Kubiak, who was conducting the proceedings, but he did not indicate when the investigation might end

– I have been a victim for two years in an investigation where nothing is happening. Prosecutor Ziobro acts frozen, as if someone paralyzed him. He is afraid of this case, he does not want to do anything in this procedure – said Senator Krzysztof Brejza in an interview with TVN24.

In his opinion, “the case is a great embarrassment, a great threat to PiS“. – This is one big bag of crimes, which is why the prosecutor does not want to do anything in this investigation – he added.

– An investigation has been initiated, I am a victim, but during the first steps it turned out that this is a gigantic scandal related to illegal eavesdropping on the opposition, with influencing the course of elections previous parliamentary elections, with the destruction of evidence, with the creation of false evidence, with the slander of honest people – said the senator.

Breeze being watched by Pegasus

A group of researchers from the Citizen Lab, operating at the University of Toronto, showed in an expert opinion that in Poland, those monitored with the Pegasus software were, among others, a patron Roman Giertych, prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek and senator of the Civic Coalition Krzysztof Brejza. The fact that Brejza was under surveillance was also independently confirmed Amnesty International. According to Citizen Lab, Senator Krzysztof Brejza was under surveillance 33 times before the parliamentary elections in 2019, when he was the head of the KO electoral staff. No proceedings are pending against the politician.
