People linked to the government with jobs at Totalizator Sportowy. “There is nothing worse for the coalition's image”

Totalizator Sportowy has 13 new regional directors. As Onet writes, among them are local councilors and collaborators of the Civic Platform, the Polish People's Party and the Left, as well as an entrepreneur, a friend of Prime Minister Donald Tusk. All of them earn over PLN 20,000 a month.

– Something bad happened at Totalizator Sportowy – comments the Speaker of the Sejm, Szymon Hołownia. – It looks terrible – says Anita Kucharska-Dziedzic, MP of the New Left. – They were in the opposition, they said one thing, and when they are in power, there are frustrations – says Michał Wójcik, an MP from Sovereign Poland.

There was consternation on the part of the MPs, and reaction on the part of the Ministry of State Assets. Totalizator, owned by the State Treasury, now has to explain itself. – There is nothing worse for the image of the coalition on October 15 than the comparison that we are doing the same thing, we are not much different – says Anita Kucharska-Dziedzic.

In Totalizator Sportowy, which sponsors Polish sports, generating hundreds of millions of zlotys of profit, the ruling coalition has already replaced the president, management board and directors. The previous ones were associated with the previous government, which, oblivious to the scale of its own faults, is now rubbing its hands. – The sixty-eighth specific, if I remember correctly, transparent competitions – points out Law and Justice MP Zbigniew Kuźmiuk.

Yes, there was specificity in the election promises and there was such a point in the coalition agreement: the competence criterion and transparent competitions for State Treasury companies.

– If there was any competition in which a political activist without competences won, it is a scandal – comments the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski, adding that it is not a scandal if a political activist with competences wins the competition.

In the response sent to “Faktom” TVN, Totalizator Sportowy explains that the regional director is responsible for sales, administration and finance. He is expected to have higher education, five years of experience in a managerial position, knowledge of the gambling market, trust of local communities and business contacts. Totalizator ensures that all new directors meet these requirements. And coalition politicians add – they are not the only ones.

– The companies are managed by professionals, this is what Azoty looks like, this is what Tauron looks like, this is what Enea looks like. There are no politicians there, who once did not get into the Sejm and now have nothing to do with themselves. There is no situation like during the presidency of Daniel Obajtek, notes Miłosz Motyka, deputy minister of climate and environment from the Polish People's Party. – I appeal to all members of the coalition: if we do not limit ourselves, such scandals will take place, and if they do, people will turn away from us – says Ryszard Petru, MP from Poland 2050.

Unanimity on this issue in the coalition will be useful. In March, Trzecia Droga submitted a bill to the Sejm to de-partisan state-owned companies. Since June, the subcommittee created specifically to discuss it has met twice. – I will try to determine why it is delayed in the committee or subcommittee and I will try to do everything to activate it as soon as possible – announces the Marshal of the Sejm, Szymon Hołownia.

Work on the bill is to accelerate from the next session of the House.
