Polska Grupa Energetyczna, Tauron and Enea signed an agreement on cooperation in offshore wind energy. The president of PGE, Wojciech Dąbrowski, explained that it was about applying for new concessions for the construction of wind farms in the Baltic Sea. The consent of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection is also required.

“The largest Polish energy companies plan to develop four offshore wind projects in the Baltic Sea, setting the pace of the energy transformation in the country. PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna signed with Tauron and Enea conditional agreements for the sale of shares in four project companies, whose task will be to obtain location permits for the construction of offshore farms in Polish Exclusive Economic Zone in the Baltic Sea “- it was written in the press release.
– As the three largest energy groups in Poland, we decided to implement the previous arrangements today to sign an agreement that will tighten our cooperation applying for new PSZW, i.e. new concessions for the construction of offshore in the next phase of the implementation of this large investment in the Baltic Sea – said President of PGE Wojciech at the Thursday press conference Dąbrowski.
Waiting for the consent of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection
He explained that the agreement signed on Thursday provides for the conditional sale of shares in project companies that will implement investments in wind energy in the Baltic Sea.
– This contract is conditional, because the consent of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) is still needed, we are waiting for the final consent. The business is to consist in the fact that we, as PGE, conditionally sell shares in project companies that will apply for new concessions in the Baltic Sea – added the head of PGE.
“The application to the President of UOKiK for the concentration of PGE with Enea was submitted on July 5, 2021. The application to the President of UOKiK for the concentration of PGE with Tauron Polska Energia was submitted on October 28, 2021. Currently, both applications are processed by the Office” – explained in the press release .
PGE, Tauron, Enea – development of wind farms
“PGE is currently developing projects with a total capacity of approx. 3.5 GW, while the PGE Strategy published in the fall of 2020 has defined the long-term development vision of the PGE Group in the offshore energy area at at least 6.5 GW by 2040” – it was written in the press release.
Added: “Tauron is interested in a significant share in the area of direct investments related to the construction and operation of offshore wind farms, as well as investments supporting the development of Offshore Wind Energy. (…) TAURON Group wants to have 1 GW “.
“The Enea Group is one of the largest energy concerns in Poland, co-responsible for the country’s energy security. It provides energy to over 2.7 million customers. (…) Enea actively participates in the transformation of the energy sector and develops renewable energy sources” – we read.
